Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Extensive research confirms that fresh spirulina is safe for consumption across all groups.
It is a valuable source of iron—a nutrient often lacking during pregnancy. While many iron supplements can irritate the stomach, fresh spirulina actually helps reduce discomfort.
It is compatible with doctor-prescribed iron supplements and can even help improve iron absorption.
Is this meant for long-term use or just as a temporary course?
Spirulina provides the best results when used consistently over the long term, rather than just in short courses.
Because our spirulina is fresh, it retains the maximum amount of active antioxidants, vitamins, and enzymes, making it a perfect addition to your daily diet.
The UN has recognized spirulina as the most sustainable and nutrient-dense food source in the world.
Which form of spirulina works best for raising iron levels?
Any form of SpirulinaNord® is effective.
One serving of fresh spirulina contains 2 mg of iron (18% of the daily value).
However, the most important factor is absorption capability.
For example, spinach is known as a good source of iron, but it also contains oxalates- compounds that block iron absorption—meaning you actually absorb less than 2% of the iron in spinach.
Spirulina does not contain these blockers, making it a highly effective and bioavailable source of iron.
Is this suitable for children?
Fresh spirulina is a normal part of a healthy diet, and studies have reported no adverse effects on any specific group. However, SpirulinaNord® is not officially certified as children's food or specialized nutrition.
Is there a risk of taking too much?
We recommend one to two servings a day.
Increasing the amount can provide an extra energy boost or accelerate recovery after heavy physical or mental strain.
While spirulina is a food, not a medicine, and is difficult to overdose on, it is highly concentrated.
Due to the high level of bioactive compounds, consuming excessive amounts may cause digestive upset (e.g., loose stools), feelings of anxiety/restlessness, skin flushing, or other non-specific symptoms.
Should I take it on an empty stomach or after eating?
We recommend taking it earlier in the day.
If you take it in the evening, you may experience a significant energy boost.
Does your fresh spirulina contain iodine?
No. We cultivate our spirulina in a controlled, iodine-free environment. Unlike seaweed, spirulina does not require iodine to grow.
